Setting Intentions to Achieve Your Business Goals

Setting intentions to achieve goals

We’re already halfway into the first month of 2020, and, if you haven’t already done so, you may be thinking about your intention for this new year. At this time of year, we hear a lot about resolutions, intentions, and goals. Essentially, they all boil down to one simple thing: to set the tone for our new year of life.

When it comes to building a brand and business that you love, setting an intention is a tremendously constructive use of mental energy, as it impels us to focus on where to direct ours resources to ensure continued success.

Read on below to schedule a Strategy Session with Shelly to make 2020 a success!

What is an intention?

An intention is the purest form of your goal; it’s the essence of your goal. Intention is the heart of your deepest desire, wants, ideas, and creativity. Intentions set the foundation for our goal, and from that place of intention, we can build a plan of action to achieve our goal.

Intentions help clarify your goals. When we set an intention of how we want to feel, act, and show up as we move through our year. Your goal is one particular manifestation of your deep intention. A goal can be simply described as a specific desired outcome or result. It’s an expression of your intention but it’s not the main focus.

The goal and outcome fades away as the present moment increases in importance, whereas intention is constant and fluid; it carries you through your day to day.
Intentions help us focus on how we want to show up, and they motivate us to move forward towards our goals.

Simply put, Mallika Chopra says that “goals come from the mind and are often task-oriented, but “intent comes from our souls, and represents our deepest desires”.

Mallika suggests asking yourself three simple questions:

  • Who am I?

  • What do I want?

  • How can I serve?

I invite you to ask one more question, What thought, feeling, or sentiment do I need to bring into my awareness to help me feel more confident, capable, and successful in my work?
By doing this simple practice, you can ground yourself and your business in an intention. These three simple questions can help you chisel away at a desire until you find the clear, obvious, and perfect intention.
Taking the time to revisit and connect with the core of our inspiration of why we do the work we do, will only help to clarify and cohere our messaging.
